Cappuccino Cups

Cappuccino Cups

Making things for friends is probably the coolest thing I get to do in the studio. This particular piece came out of a conversation I was having with my friend, Chad Wadsworth. He was telling me about his ritual of making a cappuccino at home in the morning, so I told him that I would make him a couple of small cups for his morning ritual. As things can happen in the studio...I also made seventy-five more for y'all. It’s a lovely little cup that holds approximately 4-5 ounces, which I think is the perfect cup for coffee.

Personally, I have always loved a smaller cup. Not surprisingly, I have tons of mug choices in my cabinet, but I always reach for one of three small cups. These mugs– one made by Michael McCarthy, one by Mark Shapiro, and the other by Ryan McKerley, are all in heavy rotation in my house. Each time I use one of these cups, I think of the time spent with these friends. I think of their studios, their families, their process, and their work through the years. Each one of those cups holds a lot more than my double-shot of espresso.

I’m hopeful that you'll feel something similar each time you use one of my Cappuccino Cups.
